Léa Samille

Léa is a 19 year old YouTuber from Belmopan,Belize. She started her YouTube career in Mid January of 2017. I would not say that she is just a beauty guru, because she does a little bit of everything. Playlists, Story Times, Challenges, Vlogs, etc.I have a beauty and lifestyle channel! She states You can come to my channel to learn tips and tricks about makeup. Also you can just come on my channel to chill, listen to some music & just have girl time.” I was given a great opportunity to interview this sweet, generous, and gorgeous Belizean gyal. In this interview, we talk about her journey on youtube.

1. Why did you start doing youtube?

“I started my channel because I wanted to be a voice for young girls and just women in general. Growing up, I didn’t have an older sister. I only had my mother so there’s a lot of stuff I was not able to talk to anyone about. I want to be that person for people who feel like they don’t have anyone to talk to. I want my supporters to look at me as a big sister & for them to know that we’ll always be close at the heart. I want to be that voice for girls that feel like they can’t speak up for what they go through and for what they believe in.”

2. Do you see yourself doing this in 5 years from now?

“Of course, I’ll never stop doing youtube. It’s always been my dream and passion. I can’t wait to be a really successful youtuber one day. It’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

3. Did you expect to have this much support when you first started posting on YT?

“I actually have more support now than I did when I started my channel. People come and go, but I’ve had supporters stick with me from the beginning to now & I’m so thankful for them.”

Which one of your videos are your favorite?

“My favorite video I’ve done, was having my subscribers run my life for a day! It was so interesting seeing the crazy stuff you guys had me do!”

5. Is there anyone you would like to collab with for a YT video?

“I have SOOO many people I dream of collabing with. To list a few, Daisy Marquez, Nazanin Kavari, Desi Perkins, Jackie Aina, Manny MUA. Those are just some of the people!”

6. Who inspired you to do makeup?

“Makeup has always been something I love. It’s always been my escape and it’s always been the only way I felt able to really express myself. I’ve gotten better over time i’ve been doing makeup and I’ve still yet to lose my passion for it. I don’t think I ever will.”

7. What were the biggest challenges you faced while being a Youtuber?

“The biggest challenge I’ve faced is managing my time and being consistent. It’s really hard to balance real life, such as school, a regular 9-5 and a social life and ALSO trying to stay consistent. It’s also very easy to lose motivation when you feel like your videos aren’t doing numbers.”

8. When did you start getting noticed in public?

“I’ve gotten noticed in public several times. Mostly by people from Belize! It’s such a surreal feeling.”

9. Do you have any advice for any upcoming youtubers, or people who are thinking about becoming youtubers?

“Be yourself! Be consistent and know that you can do ANYTHING you put your mind & heart to.”
